Japan - and what if's

In the aftermath of the Japan 9.0 earthquake, tsunami's, and problems with a nuclear power plant, while looking through photographs I got to wondering about our/my prepardness and the "What If's"

What If...
some kind of disaster occured in your area and your home was destroyed, or determined to be unliveable and you were able to salvage only what you could carry.  what would you take?

how would you carry it?

would everyone do their fair share?

What If...
you got to a safe place at an evacuation center...

but were hoping for some "space"?

What If...
all you had was your 72-hour kit in a backpack?

What If...
people hadn't been willing to clear a path through any debris?

to make it easier on all?

What If...
the military wasn't trained...

physically fit...

or willing to get down and dirty... to help?

What If...
New Orleans survivors, after Katrina, had been this calm and orderly?

What If...
you had to go through an obstacle course to 'pick up' a few supplies?

What If...

it was winter...

by the campfire?

What If...

your cell phone wasn't charged before loss of electricity?

What If...
rescuer's weren't willing to leave their own homes and families...

leave their country...

and join with others...

under adverse conditions...to help?

What If...
you had to put up with a little "inconvenience" to get around?

What If...

before the disaster, when groceries were plentiful...

you hadn't gotten your 1 year supply...or even a 30 day supply?

What If...

this is all that remained of your home...

or this?

someone wasn't there to boil water for your cup of Instant Noodles?

What If...

it. was. just. so. overwhelming?

What If...

all you ever found was a family photo?

What If...

it was you?
