Well, one thing led to another and for a few weeks it was Friday night at the movies slides. We saw ALL slides we could find and had a fun time laughing at many, and snoozing at others. THEN one thing led to another and I decided to catalog all those slides so we could more easily find specific ones. THEN we started scanning those slides so we could get them printed to add to the scrapbook pages for each trip.
Ah, modern technology...has it's limitations.
Here, Janice is trying to configure her new slide scanner (little black box in front of her left hand) to her old laptop. Christine is trying to configure Mom's old scanner (big beige thing) to Janice's new laptop. Neither was having any luck. THEN the light dawned and Mom's old scanner was hooked up to the old laptop -where it functioned perfectly again, just like it did 5 years ago- and the new laptop was configured with a new scanner I'd recently purchased. Voila! Success.
Slides and Scanners
Like a well-oiled machine we've kinda worked out a system to scan trays, and trays, and trays of slides. OKay, it's still a work in progress that is progressing very slowly. We'll need to re-visit our plan.
** So how many slides did we view? It took 3 Friday's (or was it four?) and about 3 hours each Friday. Use the comments section to submit your answer!

How fun that you get to get together with your sisters and your Mom every Friday!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is 1200 slides.
I'd guess higher having seen some of Grandma's photo books. 2500? I want to get together with my sisters too!
ReplyDelete600 slides. I'm just loving the idea of organizing and digitizing all those slides so you can find them easier. Good for you guys and you get to be together too! Fun.
